| | 4 / 7 % Daily value
This tells you the percentage of each nutrient (fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrate, dietary fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals) you are getting for each serving, based on a 2,000-calorie diet.
To spot healthier products, "look for foods with high percentage daily values of fiber, protein, and vitamins and minerals, and low percentage daily values of saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium," advises Fishback. How high is high, and how low is low? Generally speaking, the FDA considers 5 percent or less of daily value to be a low source of that nutrient, and 20 percent or more to be a good source.
